Voter ID Card (EPIC) Application

1. If you are a first-time user, click the Register Tab (usually in the top right corner) and register with your Full Name, Mobile No., Email ID (optional), State, and a Password.
2. Log in with your credentials using the Login Tab.
3. After logging in, navigate to the Apply Online section, select "Voter ID Card Application" (or similar service), and click "Apply" after reviewing the requirements and eligibility.
4. Alternatively, applications can often be made directly through the National Voters' Services Portal (NVSP) or the Voter Helpline App provided by the Election Commission of India.

Documents Required for New Voter ID Registration (Form 6):

1. Passport Size Photograph:

• Recent, colour photograph with a plain light background.

2. Proof of Age (Any one):

• Birth Certificate issued by a competent local authority/municipal authority/Registrar of Births & Deaths.
• Class 10 or Class 12 Marksheet/Certificate (if it contains Date of Birth).
• Class 8 Marksheet (if it contains Date of Birth).
• Class 5 Marksheet (if it contains Date of Birth).
• Indian Passport.
• PAN Card.
• Driving License.
• Aadhaar Card issued by UIDAI.

3. Proof of Ordinary Residence (Any one):

• Current Bank / Kisan / Post Office current Passbook.
• Ration Card.
• Indian Passport.
• Driving License.
• Income Tax Assessment Order.
• Latest Rent Agreement.
• Latest Utility Bill (Water/Electricity/Gas connection) for that address, either in the name of the applicant or their immediate relation like parents etc. (not older than 3-6 months).
• Any post / letter / mail delivered through India Post in the applicant’s name at the given address.
• Aadhaar Card.

Note:

Stipulated Timeline:

Processing time can vary. Typically, after successful application and verification, the EPIC is issued within a few weeks to a month, especially during non-election periods. You can track your application status online.

Fees:

• Applying for a new Voter ID card (first-time registration) is generally free of cost when done through official government channels.
• Fees might be applicable for corrections, duplicate cards, or if applying through certain third-party service centers (CSCs).

Eligibility Criteria for Voter ID Card:

• The applicant must be a citizen of India.
• The applicant must have attained the age of 18 years on the qualifying date (January 1st of the year for which the electoral roll is being prepared/revised). Citizens can also apply in advance if they are 17+ and will turn 18 by the next qualifying date.
• The applicant must be ordinarily resident in the part/polling area of the constituency where they wish to be enrolled.
• The applicant should not be disqualified from being enrolled as a voter under the Representation of the People Act, 1950, or any other law.
